SUMMARY:Tomography Image Analysis Hackathon - with the Structure of Food During Processing working group\, within the Northern Lights on Food theme
DESCRIPTION:QIM will once again join a LINXS Hackathon in the role of image analysis experts helping users extracting details from their 3D data. \nOutline\nScientists with 3D data challenges will meet and work with experts in image visualisation\, image quantification and machine learning to work together to visualise\, quantify and interpret the scientific content in their 3D images. The Hackathon will start with tutorials on machine learning in 3D image analysis before focussed work in small group bringing together data owners and image analysis experts. In addition to identifying solutions and analysis approaches\, establishing continuing collaborations is a usual outcome after 2 days of sitting working closely together. \nTarget audience\nScientists working with x-ray or neutron imaging who would like to learn more about 3D image analysis and/or would like help with image analysis challenges to extract details from their 3D data. The hackathon is in the context of the Northern Lights on Food Theme at LINXS and so there is a focus towards food science related applications\, but we welcome researchers from other fields also\, subject to space. \nPre-requisites\nEach scientist (data owner) participant should come with their own 3D x-ray or neutron tomography data to analyse during the hackathon. To help us prepare and also\, in the event of over-subscription\, to select participants\, please provide a short description of the data and the scientific questions that you are trying to answer with the data (what would you like to extract from the images).\n– 1 page including an image illustrating the data challenge. (If you are interested in participating\, but do not yet have 3D imaging data of your sample\, please contact Stephen Hall to see if it is possible to acquire data before the event) \nAgenda \nWednesday 8th March \n09:00-09:30 Arrival and Welcome \n09:30-12:00 Tutorials on Machine learning techniques applied to 3D image analysis \n12:00-13:00 Lunch \n13:00-17:00 Hackathon: group work to analysis 3D data\, bringing data owners together with image analysis and machine learning experts \nThursday 9th March \n09:00-12:00 Continuing hackathon \n12:00-13:00 Lunch \n13:00-15:00 Continuing hackathon \n15:00-16:00 Wrapping up\, presenting findings and plans for continuation \nThe event is in conjuction to the Friday 10th March “QIM: 3D image analysis – From Foundation to Vision” – 3D imaging and quantification workshop and celebration of the first 5 years of QIM” in Copenhagen. \nSeparate registration page will open soon.
