SUMMARY:Online Workshop: Machine Learning for Segmentation of 3D Structures
DESCRIPTION:You can now find online in our QIM channel the video recordings for the talks and demos held at the Online Workshop on Machine Learning for Segmentation of 3D Structures the 30th September 2020. \nThis online workshop focuses on segmentation of 3D structures in microscopy images using machine learning. \nYou will learn how to apply state-of-the art machine learning tools to segment your own data. We will focus on the trade-off between annotation effort and segmentation quality\, with an emphasis on “good enough” in reasonable time. \nThe first day of the workshop is a webinar-style presentation of how to apply machine learning tools to various segmentation tasks\, followed by a practical session where you will apply the tools to example data-sets. The second day of the workshop will be in small groups\, where each participant begins segmenting their own data. \nGo to the registration site for information on the program. We hope to see you!

SUMMARY:Introduction to Volumetric Image Analysis Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is focused on the analysis of 3D images. At the workshop\, you will gain competences in general image analysis\, necessary in the process of quantitative characterisation of samples. You will be guided through tasks such as image pre-processing\, segmentation and geometry quantification\, up to the visualisation of your results. The only prerequisite for participation is a general interest and need for volumetric image analysis. As we will work with open-source software tools\, you will be able to expand the analyses beyond the workshop. \nOn the second day of the workshop\, you have the possibility of bringing your own volumetric image data. We will happily help you get started on your analysis. If you do not have data yet\, we will provide interesting cases that you can work with.

SUMMARY:2nd Workshop on Fibre Segmentation
DESCRIPTION:On 2nd and 3rd May\, QIM will host the second fibre workshop at DTU with talks and a hands-on session with our tool Insegt Fibre (see Science Cases). As we had a very successful first edition with over 30 attendees\, we have decided to extend the programme with an optional second day. The programme for this year is available at the event page\, where you can also sign up. The deadline for the sign up is the 12th April and there is a limited number of spots. Sign up as soon as possible to not miss out

SUMMARY:QIM Kick-off Seminar
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Quantification of Imaging Data from Max IV (QIM) is developing algorithms for quantitative image analysis. The aim of QIM is to support research that involves 3D imaging and quantitative volumetric image analysis for both industrial and clinical applications. \nJoin us at the Kick-off Seminar to learn more about the activities planned at the center. You will be part of discussions about user cases and challenges\, as well as the future direction of the field. We look forward to seeing you.

SUMMARY:1st Workshop on Fibre Segmentation
DESCRIPTION:The first workshop on the tool Insegt Fibre was entitled ‘Fibre Reinforced Composites: X-ray Imaging and Advanced Fibre Tracking’. The workshop was held on the 15th May of 2018 at the Henry Moseley X-ray Imaging Facility\, part of the School of Materials from University of Manchester. The event was financed by the Henry Royce Institute and co-organised by Ying Wang and Monica Emerson. \nIn the morning\, a series of talks was conducted by experts in material science\, imaging and data analysis. These covered important aspects of X-ray tomography for fibre reinforced composites\, including sample preparation and in-situ imaging set-ups. The afternoon session consisted of hands-on work with the tool Insegt Fibre. Following two example scripts and a manual\, the attendees worked on 4 data-sets of varying quality and segmented individual fibres from a full unidirectional composite CT scan.
